Ways to Give
Support pets at the
Ontario County Humane Society

As a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Ontario County Humane Society relies completely on the generosity of our community to fulfill our mission of making our community a better place for people and animals to live together. Your monetary gift, donations of goods and supplies, or donation of time allows us to care for victims of cruelty and neglect, reunite stray pets with their families, and educate the public about humane care and responsible ownership.

You can make a difference in the lives of shelter pets.

How can I help?

  • Adopt. The biggest difference you can make is by adopting a shelter pet. Many of our residents have experienced neglect, abuse, and cruelty. You can show them the very best life has to offer by welcoming a shelter pet into your heart and home. Start the process here.

  • Foster. If you’re not ready to make anything official, but would like to give it a shot, consider fostering a pet. Fostering a pet with intent to adopt frees up space for new residents and allows a current resident to enjoy the peace and quiet of a good home. Learn about fostering and start the process here.

  • Volunteer. Your donation of time is one of the best gifts you could give a shelter pet. The shelter is always accepting volunteers and we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Learn about volunteer opportunities and and start the process here.

  • Donate. Donations of funds and supplies is a great way to support local shelter pets. The residents are always in need of new toys, bedding, food, litter, and other essentials. In addition to pet supplies, large quantities of cleaning supplies are necessary to keep the shelter squeaky clean and sanitary for guests and residents. Items such as bleach, laundry detergent, floor cleaner, 55 gallon garbage bags, and other essentials are always needed.

If you’d like to know what the shelter is most in need of at any given time, check out the homepage, our social media accounts and pinned posts, or contact the shelter directly. You can check out our wishlist for a general list of items accepted at the shelter.
