Volunteer for the Shelter
One of the best gifts you can give is the donation of time. The Ontario County Humane Society relies heavily on the generosity and dedication of our amazing team of volunteers. It’s also a fun, meaningful option for those who need to complete volunteer hours for school or service projects for youth groups. Happy Tails Animal Shelter is proud to work alongside awesome groups like Girl Scouts, BSA, The ARC of Ontario, and BOCES Animal Science Program.
Volunteers participate in a number of opportunities including, but not limited to:
Animal care like cleaning, feeding, grooming, and socialization
Daily building maintenance, cleaning, and assisting the staff with daily chores
Activities like gardening, painting, decorating, and construction projects
Shelter promotion, assistance with fundraising and events, organizing donation drives, and parade participation
Volunteer opportunities at the shelter are available Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday shifts available for established volunteers. Volunteer opportunities at the shelter are scheduled between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM. Promotion and fundraising volunteer opportunities are scheduled all year round. Children interested in volunteering must be at least 12 years old (at least 16 to work with dogs) and parent/guardian supervision may be required.
To become a part of this incredible, compassionate, and devoted group of friends and neighbors, submit a volunteer application and a member of our staff will contact you to get started. Thank you for your interest!
